Building Leadership

Principal

Mr. Scott Kubelka

Murphy Elementary is a school based in kindness, empathy, and understanding. Students at our school benefit from a quality education that fosters both academic growth and social-emotional development. The learning that your child will experience will be both engaging and joyful.

The staff and I value fostering authentic relationships with students and their families. Your support throughout your child’s learning is appreciated because the connection between school and home is important and makes a difference. Mr. Rogers once shared, “Our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has - or ever will have - something inside that is unique to all time. It is our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression.”

Learning isn’t limited to just school.  There are many ways parents can support their child’s education, including finding time to read, play a game, practice math skills, as well as talk and listen about your child’s experiences in the classroom. These simple after-school activities will help your child grow both academically and socially.

On behalf of the staff, we look forward to cultivating in partnership with you, your child’s curiosity, passion, and creativity for learning.

On a final but important note, a kind reminder that the diversity reflected in our school community is valued; every student, family, staff, and volunteer is important to us. We accept, appreciate, and love you.

Respectfully,

Scott Kubelka, Principal of Murphy Elementary School

Respetuosamente,

Scott Kubelka, Director de la Escuela Primaria Murphy

Mrs. Darlene Silhavy

Dear Murphy Community,

Welcome back to the 2025-2026 school year!  I am thrilled to officially join the Murphy Elementary Community. While this is my first year as a Mustang, it is my fifth year in the Round Lake School District. I am looking forward to bringing my experience, passion, and commitment to our school while supporting every child’s growth both academically and socially.

As we begin this new year together, I want you to know that my door is always open. Whether it is a question, concern, or celebration, I am here to partner alongside you. I believe that together, we can make this an extraordinary year.

Let’s make it a great year to be a Mustang–where we run with heart, lead with courage, and never stop growing!

With Mustang Pride,

Darlene Silhavy, Assistant Principal
